To some people, Fall is the best time of the year. The weather cooling down, apple cider, and best of all, the changing of the leaves. Looking for a beautiful place to experience Fall? Visit Breckenridge, CO! Breckenridge is a great day trip from Denver and it can give you all the Fall experiences!

You might be asking, what is there to do in a ski town in Fall?

Leaf Peeping Colorado

You can start by taking the drive up through Clear Creek Canyon to get there. This is a gorgeous canyon and a great one for beginners if you're coming from out of town. There are multiple pull off sections where you can take in the views and even head down to the Clear Creek River that follows you along most of the canyon drive. Let's not forget the amount of leaf peeping you can see as you drive through the canyon. You can't miss all the yellow and orange!

If you're not in any rush, about an hour into your drive, you'll see a very small mountain town to the left. This is Georgetown and should definitely be added to your itinerary. Pull off and check out this old mining town. Walk down the downtown street and grab some ice cream or a Colorado souvenir, and once you've done that head up the Guanella Pass. Guanella Pass will give you a taste of some switchbacks and once you make it to the top, a stunning arial view of Georgetown!

Once you hit Breckenridge, there are so many things for you to do. Check out this list we've put together.

1. Cuppa Joe

Looking for some latte art? This is your spot! Energize yourself from that drive and grab a cup of coffee.

2. Boreas Pass Road

Take a drive up Boreas Pass Road. Starting in downtown Breck and heading up to 11,400 feet, you will be engulfed in yellow and orange towering trees.

3. Go Hiking

There are so many different trails to choose from. From short to long, easy to moderate, there's a trail for everyone in Breckenridge.

Colorado Gold Mine

4. Take a Gold Mine Tour

The gold rush of 1859 lured prospectors from all over to Summit County. Many of the mines are now shut down and you'll see a few on your drive up to Breckenridge, but there are also tours you can take once you get there.

5. Go Shopping

Downtown Breckenridge is full of shops of all kind. Looking for something Vintage? Head to Marigold's Farmhouse Funk & Junk. Looking for some interesting spices? Try Spice and Tea Merchant - and please, while you're there, try the Black Sand Sea Salt. You can also find stores for Colorado souvenirs, clothing, infused olive oil, and more.

6. Eat, Eat, Eat!

Lastly, there are so many places you can choose from to eat. One of the best restaurant/breweries in our opinion that you have to check out is Breckenridge Brewery. One of the nations top craft breweries, Breck Brew is still in it's original location and brews it's beer in-house. Pair their beer with one of their delicious burgers, or take a crawler to go.

Spend the weekend or spend a day up in Breckenridge this Fall. You won't be disappointed from shops to gold mine tours to hiking, there's something for everyone! You won't be disappointed from shops to gold mine tours to hiking, there's something for everyone!
